Everything involving fabrics, threads and related mixed media. From the basics to advanced classes covering all kinds of techniques related to textiles.
For full day workshops we provide a set menu vegetarian lunch. Please tell us on the form whether there are foods you cannot eat for any reason.

This Session:

This bobbin lace workshop with Louise West (member of the Lace Guild) is suitable for all levels of experience from complete beginners wanting to try the craft through to more experienced students, wanting help starting or progressing with their projects. It will cover all the basic techniques to get the student started in this exciting creative textile or assist with problems in starting or working pieces. New students can borrow equipment for use during the workshop by prior arrangement (please give a minimum of one weeks notice).

Essential Requirements:

Existing students - all equipment as necessary to work piece - pillow, pattern, (pricking card if pattern not prepared beforehand) pins, bobbins, thread, cover clothes, bag to carry work in.
New students - nothing if borrowing equipment by prior arrangement.
All - Glasses if worn for close work.
Notebook/pen.

Optional Requirements:

Any patterns which student would like to discuss for future projects.

Available for purchase:

Some lace threads will be available.
Beginners starter kit can be ordered from a local supplier, details on request.

Where no payment or booking is due | Simply turn up and we look forward to seeing you!
Where payment is due when you attend the event, or the event is free but requires you to book | When you book your place we will send you an automatic confirmation and we look forward to seeing you at the event.
Where payment is due | If payment for your event is due with booking you will be led through our secure online payment gateway.
Paying a deposit | If you are booking more than three weeks in advance of the event or course you may prefer to pay a deposit. To do this please ring us on 01332 873929 and we will help you out. We will ask for the relevant amount to be paid by cash, cheque or card, and will need to keep your credit or debit card details until the day of the event. If you have paid a deposit, the full payment becomes due on the day of the event. Any card details will be securely stored and destroyed after the event.

If you are booking on an event for more than one person | The person making the booking is responsible for payment of the course. This is especially important to remember if one of the bookings is cancelled within 3 weeks of the event date (see below for full details).
Deposits & Cancellation Fees | If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 3 weeks prior to the workshop to receive a refund of any monies paid less the non-refundable admin fee (usually £20 unless otherwise stated).
Cancellations made less than 3 weeks in advance of the workshop will be charged at the full rate and payment taken from your card, unless we are able to fill your place. If we can refill your place you will be refunded any monies paid less the admin fee. If we need to cancel the workshop you will be refunded all monies paid to that date for the course.
Full Day Workshops | Your full day workshop will usually run from 10.30am to 4.30pm and includes a two course lunch in our vegetarian café with refreshments throughout the day.
If you have any special dietary or access requirements please let us know by completing the information box in the booking form
Part Day Workshops | Check times for individual events. Refreshments will be provided and the café is open 10am to 4.30pm.

Some workshops have any additional materials charge which are payable directly to the tutor on the day (by cash or cheque).
